Federico Mollicone criticizes Rome Mayor over Teatro Valle reopening

Federico Mollicone, president of the Chamber of Deputies Culture Commission, has criticized Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri for failing to invite government and regional representatives to the press conference announcing the reopening of the Teatro Valle.

Mollicone described the exclusion of ministers and the Lazio Region as a “grave institutional unfairness,” noting that the reopening was supported by significant public funding. He highlighted that the Ministry of Culture contributed 10 million euros via the Pnrr funds for restoration, alongside over 2 million euros allocated to the Teatro di Roma through the national fund for live performance. Additionally, the Lazio Region provided 2.35 million euros for programming.

The reopening marks the end of a long period of closure for the historic venue, which holds significant cultural value in Italy. Mollicone also expressed criticism regarding the renovation project's references to the theater's previous illegal occupation.
