FC Barcelona begins La Liga title defense against Elche

FC Barcelona is set to begin its La Liga title defense this Sunday with an away match against Elche CF at the Martínez Valero Stadium. Under manager Hansi Flick, the club has undergone significant squad changes following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.

Key summer signings including Rodri, Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, and João Cancelo have been registered with La Liga, allowing them to participate in the season opener. Flick has expressed confidence in the squad's increased quality, though he noted the ongoing search for a specialist number nine striker.

Internal dynamics are also a focus, with reports suggesting tension in the dressing room regarding player rotations and the potential departure of Alejandro Balde. Despite these shifts, Barcelona remains the heavy favorite, having won their last 12 encounters against Elche.
