FedEx orders $300M worth of electric trucks from Harbinger
FedEx has placed an order for 2,000 all-electric trucks from EV startup Harbinger Motors in a deal valued at more than $300 million. The company plans to deploy these vehicles across its pickup and delivery operations in the United States and Canada, replacing an equivalent number of internal combustion engine vehicles.
Harbinger Motors aims to complete the delivery of the entire fleet by the end of 2027. This agreement expands an existing partnership between the two companies, following FedEx’s role in co-leading Harbinger’s $160 million Series C financing round late last year. FedEx has stated a goal to ensure all its parcel delivery vehicle purchases are electric by 2030.
Founded in 2022, Harbinger focuses on producing electric medium-duty commercial truck chassis. The startup has already delivered 53 trucks to FedEx as part of a previous order. Beyond its core chassis product, Harbinger is expanding into hybrid emergency vehicles, autonomous driving technology, and battery pack sales for energy storage.
