FedEx rolls out flat‑rate One Rate service and new peak‑season demand surcharges

FedEx One Rate is a flat‑rate shipping option for U.S. shipments. Prices are fixed based on the selected FedEx packaging and delivery speed, regardless of weight (up to 50 lb) or destination within the United States. The service includes free FedEx packaging and is intended to give businesses predictable shipping costs, especially for heavier items or long‑distance deliveries.

FedEx also announced a series of demand surcharges that will apply during peak periods through 2027. Fees include additional handling ($8.80‑$11.85 per package), oversize charges ($95.75‑$108.50), and unauthorized package surcharges ($535‑$545). Separate surcharges for express, ground residential, and ground‑economy services range from $0.30 to $4.05 per package. The carrier cites sustained shipping demand, higher operating costs, and growth in residential deliveries as reasons for the new fees.
