Fedora Linux 45 release delayed to late October
The Fedora Project has adjusted the release schedule for Fedora Linux 45. Originally planned for October 20, the release has been delayed after a scheduled Go/No-Go meeting on October 15 resulted in a ‘NO-GO’ decision due to the lack of a suitable release candidate for evaluation.
Operations Architect Aoife Moloney announced that the project is now targeting October 27 for general availability, though this remains a target rather than a confirmed date. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for October 22 to determine if the software is ready to ship or if further delays are required.
The upcoming release includes several technical updates, such as Linux kernel 7.2, GNOME 51, and KDE Plasma 6.7. Under-the-hood modernizations include the transition to the kmscon userspace console for improved high-resolution rendering and Unicode support, as well as the integration of Stratis storage volumes within the installer. The release also focuses on supply chain hardening through stricter RPM signature verification.
