Feeding Our Future fraud defendants sentenced to federal prison

Several individuals have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in the ‘Feeding Our Future’ fraud scheme, which involved the theft of hundreds of millions of dollars in pandemic-era federal funds intended for child nutrition programs.

Ahmed Abdullahi Ghedio of Minneapolis received a 65-month prison sentence for wire fraud and money laundering. Abdihakim Ali Ahmed of Apple Valley was sentenced to 54 months for similar charges. Ahmed Sharif Omar-Hashim, also known as ‘Salah Donyale’, received a 36-month sentence for wire fraud. Omar-Hashim reportedly operated a company providing bookkeeping services to entities involved in the scheme and falsely claimed to have served over 1.6 million meals.

Additionally, Hussein Mohamed Farah was sentenced to 20 months in prison and ordered to pay $471,000 in restitution. Prosecutors stated Farah used his nonprofit, New Vision Foundation, to submit fraudulent meal counts, resulting in approximately $2.7 million in improper reimbursements. The broader investigation into the scheme, which involved creating bogus meal sites to collect federal funds, has seen dozens of defendants sentenced to date.
