Fehi Fineanganofo extends New Zealand contract before Newcastle move
Rugby player Fehi Fineanganofo will remain in New Zealand for the 2027 season after signing a contract extension with New Zealand Rugby (NZR). The 24-year-old winger will continue playing for the Hurricanes and Bay of Plenty through 2027.
Following this extension, Fineanganofo is scheduled to join the Newcastle Red Bulls on a three-year deal running from 2027 to 2029. The arrangement was reached after discussions between NZR, the Newcastle club, and the player to ensure Fineanganofo has the best opportunity to secure a position in the All Blacks squad for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
Fineanganofo enters this period following a record-breaking 2026 campaign in which he scored 17 tries, setting a new Super Rugby record.
