Feicon Rio to host debates on sustainable construction and urban development

The Feicon Rio construction fair, scheduled for October 6-8 at Riocentro, will focus on sustainability, infrastructure, urban development, and quality of life through its Advanced Construction Meeting (ECOA).

Discussions will center on integrating sustainability into all stages of the construction chain, from material selection to waste management at worksites. Key objectives include reducing losses, reusing materials, improving durability, and ensuring proper waste disposal. Ivan Romão, director of Feicon Rio, stated that sustainability must involve applicable solutions that reduce waste and improve building performance.

The ceramic industry is highlighted as a sector investing in efficiency. The National Association of the Ceramic Industry (Anicer) reports that the Brazilian chain includes over 5,500 companies producing billions of blocks and tiles monthly. To improve sustainability, industrial kilns in this sector are increasingly using renewable biomass derived from agricultural, automotive, and furniture waste.
