Alberto Núñez Feijóo attacks Sánchez and faces protests at PP rally in Valencia

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of Spain’s Partido Popular, accused Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of corruption and of “the maximum degradation of sanchismo” after the Congress’ Mesa blocked a motion to call early elections. He promised a “clean and decent” government, citing alleged scandals involving former President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and criticizing the administration’s handling of the Adamuz train crash, a nationwide blackout, faulty anti‑violence wristbands and a doctors’ strike.

Feijóo delivered these remarks during a large PP meeting in Sueca, Valencia, attended by regional leaders Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca and Vicent Mompó, who pledged the Valencian community’s support for the party’s upcoming electoral campaign. He also promised reforms to the autonomous‑finance system and pledged aid to victims of the October 2025 DANA floods.

The event was disrupted by protests from public‑school teachers and families of DANA victims, who criticized the government’s response to the disaster. PP organizers installed acoustic panels to muffle the chants, while protestors shouted “We will not stop.”

Vox, an electoral ally, responded with criticism, labeling Feijóo’s “red‑line” positions as premature and warning of renewed tensions between the parties.
