Feira de Santana Airport suspended due to environmental irregularities

Activities at the Feira de Santana Airport in Bahia have been temporarily suspended following an environmental inspection by the Municipal Secretariat of Environment. The inspection revealed that the airport, operated by AFS Aeroporto de Feira de Santana S. A., has been operating with an environmental license that expired in December 2025, and the company had not yet filed a request for renewal.

In addition to the expired license, inspectors identified failures to comply with environmental conditions established in previous regulations. These conditions include technical and administrative obligations such as waste management, risk control, and monitoring to mitigate environmental impacts.

Jaciara Costa, the Municipal Secretary of Environment, stated that the suspension is a preventive and temporary measure. Operations may resume once the company regularizes its licensing and demonstrates compliance with all outstanding environmental requirements.
