João Pessoa consumer agency reports lower gasoline and ethanol prices

The Municipal Consumer Protection and Defense Secretariat (Procon‑JP) in João Pessoa released a price‑comparison survey covering 110 fuel stations in the capital. The study, dated early August 2026, shows the lowest cash price for regular gasoline fell to R$ 6.21 / L (down R$ 0.02) while the highest price remained at R$ 6.90 / L, a spread of R$ 0.69. Ethanol’s lowest cash price dropped to R$ 4.27 / L (down R$ 0.30) with the highest at R$ 4.99 / L. Prices for gasoline paid with card ranged between R$ 6.28 and R$ 6.69, and for ethanol between R$ 4.67 and R$ 4.99. Additive‑gasoline fell from R$ 6.48 to R$ 6.25 / L, while diesel and GNV prices remained largely unchanged. The survey notes that most stations (81) kept gasoline prices stable, 22 reduced them and only four increased them, while 76 stations kept ethanol prices steady, 27 reduced them and two raised them.
