Feira de Santana launches student transport card renewal, teacher hires, Saturday schools and security fund

The municipality of Feira de Santana announced that university students must revalidate their Via Feira transport card online by 31 August to keep the half‑fare discount, as detailed by the Secretariat of Urban Mobility.

The city also called more than 220 teachers who passed a 2024 public exam to present documentation for appointment, fulfilling commitments made under a compliance agreement with the Bahia Public Ministry.

A new Saturday‑school program, called Sabadou, will run from 15 August to 26 September 2026 to provide extra pedagogical support for elementary students, per the Municipal Education Department.

Mayor José Ronaldo approved a Municipal Protection and Civil Defense Fund, expanding public‑security projects such as modernising the Seprev monitoring centre, increasing camera coverage and strengthening the municipal guard.

Additionally, the municipal debt‑relief scheme that allowed reduced interest, fines and penalties on tax arrears has been closed, ending new enrolments under Decree 14.576.
