Feira de Santana authorities close large laundry facility

Health authorities in Feira de Santana have shuttered a large-scale laundry facility following reports of poor hygiene and unsanitary conditions. The municipal Sanitary Surveillance agency issued a precautionary closure after an inspection revealed significant structural, operational, and hygienic irregularities.

According to Thaís Marques, head of the Sanitary Surveillance, the facility lacked the minimum required structure for clothing processing and sanitation. Inspectors identified poorly maintained machinery, exposed wiring, and a lack of proper protective equipment for workers. Additionally, the establishment was found to be storing food products alongside cleaning agents, posing a contamination risk. The facility was also operating without a valid sanitary permit.
