Feira de Santana, Brazil and Sintra, Portugal host environmental education weeks

In Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil, the municipal Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources organized the second day of the Green Week (Semana Verde) on June 10. Students from municipal schools Acioly Silva Araújo and Adelice Cavalcante participated in talks about local tree‑named neighborhoods, basic planting techniques, and a tree‑planting ceremony on Avenida Maria Quitéria, with municipal environment secretary Jaciara Costa in attendance.

In Sintra, Portugal, the municipality and the local water and sanitation services are running the 8th edition of Sintr’Ambiente – a five‑day Fair of Environment and Sustainability from June 17‑21 at Quinta da Ribafria. The free program offers workshops, educational games, trishaw rides for people with reduced mobility, film screenings and talks, engaging about two thousand primary‑school pupils and the general public. Partners include the ICNF, WWF, and several local NGOs and agencies.
