Feira de Santana implements new computing curriculum in municipal schools

The municipal school system in Feira de Santana, Brazil, is implementing new computing guidelines for basic education. Following the curriculum guidelines of Bahia and formalizing the move through Municipal Education Council Resolution No. 030/2026, the program aims to move beyond basic computer literacy.

The curriculum is organized into three main pillars: computational thinking, which focuses on problem-solving and pattern recognition; the digital world, covering hardware, networks, and data circulation; and digital culture, which emphasizes responsible and critical participation in technological environments.

Implementation will be gradual and includes professional training. For early childhood education, the approach includes ‘unplugged computing,’ using games and sequences to teach logic without screens. For elementary school, the plan introduces programming and robotics, while adult education will focus on applying technology to daily life situations.
