Feira de Santana launches literacy support for 3,300 students

Feira de Santana is launching the ‘Sabadou’ initiative, a program designed to support the learning recovery of 3,342 municipal students. Starting August 15 and running through September 26, the program will take place across 28 hub schools over five Saturdays.

The initiative, part of the ‘Pacto Feira pela Alfabetização’, targets students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades who were identified through the Feira de Santana Education Evaluation System (Saev) as needing specific support in literacy and mathematics. To ensure personalized attention, classes will be limited to a maximum of 15 students each, led by qualified teachers.

While participation is voluntary, the Municipal Department of Education (Seduc) is working to mobilize families to encourage attendance. The program aims to consolidate fundamental literacy skills for students identified as non-readers or those struggling with syllable and word recognition.
