Feira de Santana motorcyclist killed after running red light in bus collision

On June 4, 2026, a 30‑year‑old motorcyclist identified as Jonas Pereira Lima da Silva was killed in Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil. He was working as a mototaxista for a ride‑hailing app and was heading to work when he entered an intersection on Avenida Marechal Floriano Peixoto after the traffic light had turned red.

He collided head‑on with a São João public‑transport bus that had the green light and was traveling within the speed limit. The impact was fatal; the rider died at the scene and no bus passengers were injured. Police Civil opened an investigation, and the bus driver remained at the scene to cooperate. Auto Ônibus São João issued a statement of condolence. The victim’s funeral was held on June 5 at Cemitério Jardim Celestial.
