Feira de Santana motorcyclist killed after running red light in bus collision

On June 4, 2026, a 30‑year‑old motorcyclist identified as Jonas Pereira Lima da Silva was killed in Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil. He was working as a mototaxista for a ride‑hailing app and was heading to work when he entered an intersection on Avenida Marechal Floriano Peixoto after the traffic light had turned red.

He collided head‑on with a São João public‑transport bus that had the green light and was traveling within the speed limit. The impact was fatal; the rider died at the scene and no bus passengers were injured. Police Civil opened an investigation, and the bus driver remained at the scene to cooperate.
