Feira do Cordel Brasileiro draws crowds at Caixa Cultural Brasília

The 7th edition of the Feira do Cordel Brasileiro is being held at Caixa Cultural Brasília until Sunday, 2 May. The free‑entry event showcases Brazil’s traditional cordel literature with masters, poets, musicians, researchers and artists presenting a range of activities, including exhibitions, workshops, round‑table discussions, recitals, book launches and live performances.

Highlights this weekend include the concert “Vozes do Nordeste” by the Banda Atacama and a lecture titled “Cordel Brasileiro: a autêntica poesia do povo.” A dedicated fair offers cordel books, wood‑cut prints and related arts. Cordel literature was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Brazil by Iphan in September 2018. The venue is fully accessible, welcoming visitors of all abilities.
