Feito Pipa selected as Brazil's entry for the 2027 Oscars
The Brazilian Academy of Cinema has selected the film ‘Feito Pipa’ to represent Brazil in the Best International Feature Film category at the 2027 Oscars.
Directed by Allan Deberton, the film follows the story of Gugu, an 11-year-old boy living in rural Ceará, as he navigates the potential separation from his grandmother, Dilma, to live with his father, Batista. The production has already achieved significant international recognition, winning awards at the Berlin International Film Festival, including the Crystal Bear for Best Film from the Youth Jury, and receiving four Kikitos at the Gramado Film Festival.
As part of its promotional circuit, the film will have a free screening at the Festival do Rio on October 6 at the Centro Cultural FGV. Following this selection, the film's distributors plan to launch a campaign in Los Angeles and New York to engage members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
