Feito Pipa selected to represent Brazil at the 2027 Oscars
The film ‘Feito Pipa’ has been selected by the Brazilian Academy of Cinema to represent Brazil in the race for Best International Feature Film at the 2027 Oscars. The screenplay was written by André Araújo, an alumnus of the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN).
Set in the interior of Ceará, the story is inspired by the history of São Rafael, a municipality in Rio Grande do Norte that was partially submerged during the construction of the Armando Ribeiro Gonçalves Dam. The plot follows the relationship between a 12-year-old boy named Gugu and his grandmother, Dilma, as she begins to show signs of Alzheimer’s.
Starring Lázaro Ramos, Yuri Gomes, and Teca Pereira, the film has already received international recognition, including an award at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival. If selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the film will compete for an official nomination ahead of the ceremony scheduled for March 14, 2027.
