Felabration festival promotes Nigerian culture and attracts diaspora tourists

Felabration, an annual festival celebrating the life and legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, continues to serve as a platform for promoting Nigerian culture and attracting diaspora tourists. Yeni Kuti, co-manager of the New Afrika Shrine, noted that the festival increasingly draws international visitors, providing an opportunity to showcase Nigeria to a global audience.

The 2026 edition is scheduled for October 12 to October 18. Pre-festival activities include an art competition at the Kalakuta Museum on October 1, a dance competition at the New Afrika Shrine on October 3, school debates on October 7, and the ‘Dress Fela’ fashion show on October 10. Founded by Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti in 1998, the festival features music, debates, dance, art, and fashion.
