FELDA forensic audit requested to investigate RM10 billion loss
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called for a forensic audit of the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) to identify those responsible for losses estimated at nearly RM10 billion. He emphasized that the investigation should go beyond standard management auditing to uncover potential abuse of power, breach of trust, or governance failures.
Zahid stated that the responsibility for initiating this investigation lies with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. While noting that a former FELDA chairman has already served a sentence, he maintained that any new evidence of misconduct must lead to legal action. However, he cautioned that the process must be conducted fairly and should not be used to humiliate or persecute individuals.
The financial losses impact the welfare of approximately 225,000 settlers and their descendants, a community involving up to 1.8 million people directly or indirectly. Zahid highlighted the need to protect these stakeholders through transparent and evidence-based investigations.
