Felipe Melo names Lionel Messi the greatest football player in history

Former Brazilian national team player Felipe Melo named Lionel Messi the greatest football player in history during the Olé Summit 2026 in Buenos Aires.

Melo stated that among the players he has personally witnessed, Messi is the best, noting that he did not see legends such as Pelé or Zico play. He also compared Messi to other prominent figures including Ronaldo Nazário, Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zidane, and Neymar.

Despite expressing admiration for Messi, Melo clarified that he remains a supporter of Brazil and would not root for the Argentina national team, even during World Cup competitions.
