Felipe Valim elected mayor of Arroio do Sal
Felipe Valim (MDB) has won the supplementary election for mayor of Arroio do Sal, located on the North Coast of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Valim secured approximately 62.9% of the valid votes, defeating Valdir Cenci (PP), who received roughly 37%.
Valim, an accountant and former municipal finance secretary, will serve alongside vice-mayor José Luiz Bobsin Justin (PSDB). The new administration is set to lead the municipality until December 31, 2028.
The supplementary election was called by the Regional Electoral Court of Rio Grande do Sul (TRE-RS) following the annulment of the 2024 election results for former mayor Luciano Pinto da Silva and vice-mayor Valdir Cenci, due to rulings regarding the abuse of economic power and illicit campaign spending.
