Felipe VI and U.S. officials commemorate 25th anniversary of 9/11 attacks

On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, King Felipe VI of Spain joined U.S. officials for a commemoration ceremony at the Rota Naval Base in Cádiz. The event included a floral offering by the King and the U.S. Ambassador to Spain, Benjamín León Jr., as well as flyovers by both Spanish and American aircraft.

In the United States, Donald Trump addressed a ceremony organized by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, vowing to use the full power of the nation to prevent future attacks. During his remarks, Trump also addressed tensions with Iran, asserting that Tehran will not acquire nuclear weapons.

The anniversary highlights the long-standing military cooperation between Spain and the U.S., noting that the 2001 attacks triggered the first invocation of NATO's Article 5, which led to significant Spanish military involvement in Afghanistan.
