Felipe VI reaffirms transatlantic bond and calls for stronger Europe

During the inauguration of the VIII edition of the La Toja Forum in O Grove, Spain, King Felipe VI reaffirmed the enduring nature of the transatlantic bond between Europe and the United States. Despite recent tensions and the erosion of international certainties, the Monarch stated that the Atlantic link is “destined to survive.”

Felipe VI advocated for a “stronger and more autonomous” Europe capable of addressing global challenges without retreating. He emphasized that current global disorder could serve as a transition toward a more just and solid international system. The King highlighted the need for increased cooperation in areas such as peace, security, trade, energy, and technological innovation.

Furthermore, the King addressed modern complexities, including the necessity of regulating artificial intelligence to ensure human control and the management of hybrid threats to sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also called for listening to critical voices, suggesting that reasoned dissent can help reform and perfect existing institutions.
