Felix Banaszak threatened during campaign event in Wernigerode

Felix Banaszak, leader of the Green Party, was subjected to a verbal attack during a campaign event in Wernigerode, Saxony-Anhalt. In a recorded incident, a man approached Banaszak, using insults and making a threatening statement: “Your name, it is in my head.”

Banaszak expressed that the incident left him deeply affected and noted the distress it caused onlookers, including a young child. He emphasized the need for solidarity against increasing intimidation and aggression. However, in a subsequent television appearance, Banaszak sought to contextualize the event, stating that such hostility is not representative of his overall campaign experiences. He noted that while direct encounters can be confrontational in certain regions, many citizens continue to engage with him with respect and openness.
