Borussia Dortmund U23 player Felix Paschke retires at 23

Felix Paschke, a 23-year-old midfielder for Borussia Dortmund's U23 squad, has announced his retirement from professional football due to persistent injury problems. The club and the player reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract early.

Paschke joined Dortmund in the summer of 2024 from Hamburger SV's U23 team. During his time with the BVB reserve side, he made 16 appearances in the 3. Liga. His career was significantly impacted by a torn cruciate ligament sustained during a test match in January 2025. Despite extensive rehabilitation efforts, recurring physical issues prevented him from returning to competitive play.

Ingo Preuß, the sporting director for BVB's U23, expressed deep regret over the situation, noting Paschke's dedication and commitment to his recovery. Paschke also released a statement thanking the club's medical team, coaches, and teammates for their support during his long injury struggle.
