Fem van Empel to make cyclocross comeback at HG Cross

cyclocross Fem van Empel HG Cross professional cycling comeback

Three-time cyclocross world champion Fem van Empel is set to make her competitive return this Saturday at the HG Cross in Meulebeke, Belgium. This marks her first appearance in a cyclocross race in nearly a year.

Van Empel took an indefinite hiatus from the sport following her early withdrawal from the Koppenbergcross in November 2025. During her time away, she focused on personal well-being and reconsidered her professional future.

In September, she confirmed her return to racing and signed a contract with the French team FDJ United-SUEZ through the end of 2027. This move will see her compete on the road alongside teammate Demi Vollering while also resuming her cyclocross career.
