FEMA allocates disaster recovery funding to South Carolina and Colorado

FEMA has announced significant disaster recovery and mitigation funding for communities in South Carolina and Colorado.

In South Carolina, more than $330,000 has been allocated for two specific recovery and mitigation projects following Hurricane Helene. This includes $171,000 for debris removal in Greenville and $160,000 for wastewater infrastructure assessment. Additionally, FEMA recently provided over $33 million for various South Carolina projects, including $30.7 million to Greenville Water for reservoir repairs and nearly $1 million for debris removal in Aiken County.

Colorado has been awarded $90 million for post-disaster projects spanning from 2013 to 2025. Of this, $28 million is designated for Public Assistance, including $2.6 million for Colorado Springs to repair water drainage systems and embankments damaged by flooding. The remaining $62 million is allocated through the Hazard Mitigation Grant program, which includes $8 million for the Cottonwood Creek floodplain restoration in Colorado Springs and $5.7 million for wildfire mitigation along the Colorado Front Range.
