FEMA assessment identifies high hurricane risk for Louisiana parishes

According to FEMA’s National Risk Index, several Louisiana parishes face high risks for hurricane damage. Out of 443 counties and parishes identified as being at risk, three Louisiana parishes rank within the top six, and six parishes are located within the top twenty.

Terrebonne Parish is ranked as the second highest risk area in the index, following Lee County, Florida. Other high-risk Louisiana locations include Jefferson Parish, ranked fourth, and Orleans Parish, ranked sixth. The data suggests that Louisiana and Florida remain the states most likely to encounter significant risks and damages associated with tropical weather.
