Female artists transform Dominican urban music scene

A new generation of female artists is transforming the Dominican urban music scene, shifting the genre away from its historical male dominance. Figures such as Tokischa and Yailín La Más Viral are leading this trend.

Tokischa has gained significant international recognition through collaborations with major artists and nominations for prestigious awards like the Latin Grammys. Meanwhile, Yailín La Más Viral has seen a rapid rise in prominence since 2022, leveraging both her musical output and public persona to expand her reach beyond the Dominican Republic.
