Female corporate leadership trends shift in India and Taiwan

Recent studies highlight shifting trends in female corporate leadership across India and Taiwan. In India, the 11th ‘Best Companies for Women in India’ report shows that women’s representation in executive roles fell to 16.7% in 2026, down from 20% the previous year. While overall female representation among top-listed companies dropped to 34.6%, the top 10 companies maintained a higher rate of 42.8%. The study noted that health and wellbeing challenges were a primary reason for women exiting jobs, surpassing childcare responsibilities.

In Taiwan, a survey of female-led listed companies indicates an increase in board density, with 19.4% of companies now having at least one-third female directors. The report highlights significant technological and strategic shifts: 63% of these companies have deployed AI initiatives, though cybersecurity and talent shortages remain major concerns. Additionally, 52% of female leaders in Taiwan are pursuing localization strategies to manage geopolitical risks and supply chain restructuring, prioritizing resilience in response to global economic shifts.
