Female ownership of capital emerges as a new leadership trend in Brazil
The discussion regarding female leadership in Brazil is evolving from executive roles and subsistence entrepreneurship toward the ownership of capital. A significant economic shift occurs when women assume roles as controlling shareholders, holding equity and managing the patrimonial risks of large-scale operations.
When women exercise corporate control over medium and large enterprises, they influence investment strategies, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), governance, and production chain transformations. However, this transition introduces the challenge of decisional isolation at the top. Unlike high-level management, which can consult committees, controlling shareholders bear the ultimate responsibility for business reputation and assets.
To address the scarcity of peers at this decision-making level, there is a need to move beyond superficial commercial networking. Strengthening strategic ecosystems and trust networks specifically for female shareholders is essential to facilitate the exchange of business intelligence regarding governance, scalability, and wealth preservation.
