FeMAUB celebrates 30th anniversary with SACRA music festival

The Festival de Música Antigua de Úbeda y Baeza (FeMAUB) is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a special edition titled ‘SACRA’. Running from November 21 to December 8, the festival will explore the relationship between music, society, and spirituality through the lens of sacred music.

The program includes nearly thirty activities across the World Heritage cities of Úbeda and Baeza, utilizing venues such as the Jaén Cathedral and the Church of San Ignacio. The festival aims to integrate liturgical music with expressions of popular religiosity and oral traditions.

Key highlights include an international congress on religious popular chant in the Hispanic world in Baeza, and a performance on December 7 in Úbeda by Cappella Pratensis and Schola Antiqua, featuring works from a manuscript currently held at Boston College. Additionally, the ‘FeMAUB Callejero’ will bring ancient music to the streets on December 6.
