Femi Gbajabiamila Faces Removal Pressure Over Alleged PFIPC Corruption Scandal

Nigeria’s Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, is at the centre of a growing political controversy. The Democratic Initiative Network (DIN) held a press conference defending Gbajabiamila, rejecting recent calls for his removal as politically motivated and asserting that he had no role in the deregistration of any political party. DIN urged critics, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to pursue legal channels rather than circulate misinformation.

Conversely, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) issued a statement demanding Gbajabiamila’s immediate dismissal and calling for an independent probe into his alleged involvement with a purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The NDC alleges that the fictitious agency received budget allocations, opened accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, and that Gbajabiamila allegedly demanded a large portion of its funding. The party argues that the scandal raises serious questions about transparency and accountability within the Tinubu administration.
