Femminicide Memorial Walks in Italy and Switzerland Raise Awareness

In Codroipo, Italy, the Camminata per la Vita begins its 2026 edition, a walking event organized by the volunteer group Chei del Moss and led by Wanes Granzotto. The walk aims to remember femicide victims, support orphaned children, and promote knowledge of legal protections against gender violence. The route starts at the Calcio Rivolto sports centre, passes through Bertiolo and returns to Passariano, where a conference will feature guest Alessandra Puzzoli and moderation by jurist Monia Montechiarini. Earlier, a memorial gathering in Bellinzona, Switzerland, commemorated recent femicide victims in the Ticino region. Organizers emphasized the need to use the term "femminicidio" rather than generic labels such as "domestic violence," arguing that precise terminology is essential for research, statistics, and prevention. The Swiss event called on politicians and media to acknowledge the systematic nature of the crime.
