Fender releases special film celebrating Telecaster 75th anniversary
Fender has released a special film titled ‘The One That Started It All.’ to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Telecaster guitar. The film, available on Fender’s official YouTube channel, explores the instrument's evolution and its profound influence on modern music since its inception in 1951.
The documentary features a diverse array of artists across various genres, including Keith Richards, Bruce Springsteen, Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow, Andy Summers, Joe Bonamassa, John 5, and Julian Baker. These musicians discuss their personal relationships with the Telecaster and how its simple, universal design has facilitated a wide spectrum of sounds, from rock and soul to country and Americana.
In addition to celebrating the performers, the film highlights the craftsmanship behind the instrument. It specifically honors the legacy of Abigail Ibara, a legendary pickup winder who worked with founder Leo Fender to shape the iconic sounds of many Fender instruments. Fender plans to continue various initiatives throughout 2026 to celebrate this milestone.
