Fenerbahçe hit with three-window FIFA transfer ban
FIFA has imposed a three-window transfer ban on the Turkish club Fenerbahçe due to unpaid installments related to the transfer of striker Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla FC. The dispute arose after a payment due on April 30, 2026, was not met, prompting Sevilla to escalate the matter to FIFA.
Fenerbahçe's management stated that the sanction is temporary. While the club has already settled the overdue installment from the previous administration, FIFA has ordered the payment of a subsequent installment. The club has committed to making this payment on Monday, September 29, and expects the ban to be lifted following the completion of necessary bureaucratic procedures.
In addition to the FIFA ruling, reports indicate the club has faced separate financial scrutiny from UEFA regarding squad-cost limits. The transfer ban could potentially prevent the club from registering new players until the end of the 2027-28 winter transfer window if the financial obligations are not resolved promptly.
