Aston Villa to host Fenerbahçe in Champions League clash

Aston Villa and Fenerbahçe are set to face each other in the second week of the UEFA Champions League league phase at Villa Park. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, with a planned kickoff at 22:00 Turkish time.

Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, enters the fixture following a 3-2 victory over Club Brugge in their opening match. Despite strong European form, the club has faced challenges in the Premier League. The squad faces several injury concerns, particularly in the left-back position, with players like Matteo Ruggeri and Ian Maatsen unavailable.

Fenerbahçe, led by İsmail Kartal, arrives in Birmingham after a 1-1 draw against AS Roma in their first Champions League match. The Turkish side is coming off a 3-0 victory against Çaykur Rizespor in the Süper Lig. Key players such as Romelu Lukaku are expected to be central to their attacking strategy.

Historically, Aston Villa has held an advantage in meetings between the two clubs, winning all three previous encounters. The match will be officiated by Slovakian referee Ivan Kruzliak.
