Fenerbahçe appoints Emre Belözoğlu as new head coach
Fenerbahçe has reached an agreement with Emre Belözoğlu to serve as the club’s new head coach. Following the departure of Ismail Kartal, the Turkish club reportedly signed Belözoğlu to a 1.5-year contract.
Belözoğlu, 46, joins from Kasımpaşa. He previously held roles at Fenerbahçe as both a player and a sporting director. The decision follows reported failed negotiations with Portuguese manager Sergio Conceição, who reportedly requested higher salary terms and specific conditions for his coaching staff.
Belözoğlu is expected to lead the team in their upcoming UEFA Champions League fixture against Liverpool. Interim coach Dirk Kuyt, who managed the side following Kartal’s resignation, is expected to step aside as the new appointment takes effect.
