Fenerbahçe appoints Dirk Kuyt as interim manager
Fenerbahçe has appointed former player Dirk Kuyt as interim technical manager following the resignation of Ismail Kartal. The decision comes after a 2:1 derby defeat against Galatasaray left the club in fifth place in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Kuyt, who previously served as an assistant coach, will lead the team through upcoming fixtures, including a Champions League match against Liverpool, until a permanent successor is appointed. The club officially announced that Kartal and the management reached a mutual agreement regarding his departure.
The club is actively searching for a permanent head coach, with several high-profile candidates reportedly under consideration. Foreign options include Julian Nagelsmann, Antonio Conte, and Sergio Conceição, while domestic names such as Abdullah Avcı, Emre Belözoğlu, and Aykut Kocaman have also been linked to the position. Vincenzo Montella is reportedly a key candidate, though negotiations may be complicated by his request for a three-year contract.
