Fred joins Atlético Mineiro from Fenerbahçe

Atlético Mineiro has officially announced the signing of midfielder Fred, marking a return to the club where he began his youth career. The 33-year-old Brazilian joins from Turkish side Fenerbahçe following a mutual contract termination.

To finalize the move, Atlético Mineiro will pay approximately 2 million euros in compensation to Fenerbahçe, with an additional 500,000 euros in performance-based bonuses. Fred has signed a contract that runs until the end of 2029.

Fred brings extensive international experience to the Brazilian squad, having previously played for Manchester United and Shakhtar Donetsk, and representing the Brazilian national team in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Club owner Rubens Menin noted that the signing fulfills a long-standing desire of the player to return to his formative club.
