Fenerbahçe President Aziz Yıldırım Urges Unity Ahead of First Match
Aziz Yıldırım, president of Turkish football club Fenerbahçe, invited a journalist to watch the team's first match together, saying, "Let's watch the first match together." He recounted hearing hostile chants from a fan group as he moved from his office to the stadium.
Yıldırım noted recent upgrades at the club headquarters, including a large Atatürk photograph installed by Ali Koç and a neon‑lit modern art piece. He stressed the club’s stature, quoting Mahmut Uslu that "Fenerbahçe is great, so we must become champions." The president also highlighted the urgent task of securing the roughly €40 million UEFA guarantee required for the Champions League, a step he said the board has already addressed. New board members such as Önder Fırat were mentioned as active in boosting revenues and overseeing transfers.
