Fengshan District council candidates propose urban and environmental reforms

Candidates for the Kaohsiung City Council in Fengshan District have outlined their platforms focusing on urban development and environmental sustainability.

Su Chih-jung, a former national softball player and former official at the Kaohsiung Sports Development Bureau, is campaigning on integrated urban planning. He proposes a “new type of social housing” model that combines residential spaces with parks, playgrounds, and efficient transportation to help young families remain in the area. His platform also emphasizes the development of a sports industry to create local employment opportunities.

Deng Qiaopei, an environmental engineering specialist, is focusing her campaign on climate resilience and ecological protection. Her five-point environmental plan includes monitoring the Fengshan Creek, improving air quality through technological management, promoting low-carbon lifestyles, enhancing urban disaster prevention, and implementing smart environmental monitoring systems to address issues like urban flooding and pollution.
