Fennel seeds may aid digestion and reduce bloating

Chewing fennel seeds after meals may provide digestive relief by helping to reduce bloating, gas, and cramps. The oils and plant compounds found in the seeds can relax the smooth muscles of the digestive tract, potentially aiding stomach motility and helping to manage constipation or diarrhea.

Nutritionists suggest that consuming between half a teaspoon and one teaspoon of fennel seeds, chewed slowly, can yield benefits within 30 minutes to a few hours. While the seeds contain fiber and plant compounds that may support metabolic health and blood sugar regulation, the small amounts typically consumed after meals are unlikely to have a significant impact on blood sugar stability.

Although generally safe, fennel seeds should be avoided by individuals with allergies to celery, carrots, or parsley. Due to the presence of phytoestrogens, they are not recommended during pregnancy, and women with a history of breast, ovarian, or uterine cancer should exercise caution. Additionally, those taking blood thinners should consult a physician before use.
