Fentanyl traffickers sentenced to prison in Canada and the US

Two separate legal proceedings involving fentanyl distribution have resulted in prison sentences in Canada and the United States.

In Vernon, Canada, David Abraham Arnold Taylor was sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking operation and firearms offences. The sentencing follows arrests in 2023 and 2024, during which police discovered a fortified “trap house” containing 17.9 grams of fentanyl and a loaded sawed-off shotgun. Defense counsel noted Taylor’s history of addiction and subsequent rehabilitation efforts.

In Loma Linda, California, Alexander Nihar Biswas was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl that led to a fatal overdose in January 2024. Biswas pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute. The investigation was conducted by the DEA and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Overdose Response Team.
