Niño, a product of Villarreal's youth system, appeared for Villarreal’s first team and was part of the squad that won the 2021 Europa League. He spent three seasons at Burgos, tallying 122 appearances, 25‑26 goals and eight assists, and was described by Burgos as one of its recent icons.
Elche, newly promoted to the Primera División, said the signing strengthens a forward line left thin after the exits of Rafa Mir, André Silva and Álvaro Rodríguez. The player’s father, also named Fernando Niño, played for Elche between 2006 and 2009. Coach Martín Anselmi confirmed that Niño completed his medical and will join training immediately, with a possible debut against Córdoba.
