Ferat Koçak faces allegations of misusing Bundestag funds

Berlin politician Ferat Koçak, a member of Die Linke, is facing scrutiny regarding the potential misuse of tax-funded Bundestag resources. Reports suggest that his constituency office in Neukölln, which is partially funded by a tax-free monthly allowance of approximately 5,500 euros, may have been used for party political campaigning and election activities. Under Bundestag regulations, state-funded spaces and materials must remain strictly separate from party work.

Additionally, documents indicate that the party may have considered using mandate-related funds through a social fund to redistribute money to voters with unpaid bills to increase party popularity, an action that would violate rules against influencing voters with financial incentives.

Separately, despite his formal ties to Die Linke, Koçak is scheduled to speak at the ‘Sozialismus von unten’ congress in Berlin this November alongside Ramsis Kilani, a former member who was expelled from the party. While the organizers operate independently of Die Linke, the presence of both figures highlights a continuing political connection between the individuals and the party despite organizational separations.
