Ferenc Krausz resigns from the Corvin Chain
Nobel Prize-winning physicist Ferenc Krausz has resigned from his membership in the Corvin Chain and its governing body. Krausz stated that his decision was based on principled reasons following a period of reflection.
He noted a significant discrepancy between the actual operations of the body and the public, scientific, and moral role such an esteemed community should fulfill. Krausz cited two specific instances where the body failed to support him: first, when he proposed a public statement regarding a 2024 Russian missile attack on a Ukrainian children's hospital, and second, when the Élvonal Foundation for Peak Research and Talent Management—an organization he founded—faced a series of scientifically unfounded attacks.
The Corvin Chain is an organization that recognizes excellence in Hungarian science, literature, and art. Its board includes prominent figures such as former President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Szilveszter Vizi and Nobel laureate Katalin Karikó.
